Can a teen get arrested for running away from home?

If a teen runs away from home just for a week or less, if they get caught are they automatically arrested/put in jail?

    No. They can be detained briefly for return to their parents.

    They`d only stick you in jail if they couldn`t get you back home that night. But it wouldn`t be arrest – just locked up for you own safety.
